Madhubani Paintings

It is practised in the mithila region of India and Nepal.
It originated in the Mithila region, birthplace of goddess Sita. When Sita got married to lord Rama, king janak father of sita asked for paintings depicting the rituals of Ram Sita wedding . Traditionally these paintings were done by the female members of the community using natural dyes & twigs & matchsticks on the walls of the houses.
Now a days it is done in paper, canvas’ cloth using acrylic colours with nibs & brushes
